Sustainable Lifestyle
Have you ever gone to buy groceries but ended up buying reusable shopping because you forgot to bring one? Have you ever bought bottled water because you couldn't find water refill for your tumbler? Or have you ever used a paper straw that ended up breaking before you finished the drink and had to get a new one? We all trying to have zero carbon lifestyle but ended up trapped inside the buying cycle again and piling up a bunch of 'green' products in our house. Having a sustainable lifestyle is beyond consuming 'green' products. Solving this vicious cycle takes more than being a passive consumer, it requires a fundamental change of attitude. We should be critical and beware of greenwashing advertisements, focusing on doing what really matters, a sustainable lifestyle. Here's some of my intake of having a sustainable lifestyle:
1. Living Minimally
Think and plan over your consumption so you can use items as long as possible. Living lightly, avoiding overconsumption. For example, Instead of following fast fashion, look for a durable and quality material that we would be able to wear for a long time. I will give another example, instead of buying reusable straws, why don't we just choose not to use it at all?
2. Maintenance
Product life span is often cut short because of poor maintenance. Especially when this item is visually not decent or presentable, we tend to look for a replacement regardless of its utilitarian value. This also includes electronics and many other items that require regular maintenance.
3. Learn useful life skills
Learning a little bit of life skills is also beneficial in living a sustainable life. There are various advantageous lifeskill we can learn for example how to grow your own crops, how to sew, how to cook, and many more. By being able to do a few things around at home, you have more control in designing the lifestyle you want.
4. Be critical
Do you know that some scrub grain is made out of plastic, thus they are harmful to the environment? They will stay in the water body for who knows how long. There are so many things we need to be mindful of when choosing our everyday products, think twice about whether we really need the product or we just feel like buying because of marketing promotion. Stop being gullible and buying greenwashed products.
5. Be mindful
Save energy. This might sound a little bit restricting, but let's think on the bright side. Less electricity use means less expenses, not so bad right? I also believe that it takes sacrifices for a change.

I personally believe that we can start now to slow down the climate crisis by committing to live a sustainable lifestyle.
